One product that has become increasingly popular over the years are tumblers, especially sorting through which are the best tumblers to buy. Because of that, they now come in a variety of colors, sizes and even with fun custom prints. We too, have tried just about every tumbler on the market, trying to find the perfect one to fit our needs.
The long days at the ballpark, it’s important to have a large drink for baseball moms to stay hydrated. In addition to that, who doesn’t want a tumbler that will keep your drink cold all day? With that we’re listing the pros and cons of our top 5 tumblers 40 ounces and above.
The Fabulous 5:
- Top Pick – Stanley 40 oz. Quencher H2.0 FlowState Tumbler: Stanley tumblers have become hugely popular as of late and we can’t argue with the value of these tumblers.
- PROS: The 40-ounce tumbler comes with a handle, a straw and a vacuum sealed lid that easily screws on and off. It comes in a wide range of colors. For those that want to have a drink to accompany them throughout the day, this tumbler is a no-brainer. The tumbler also comes in a perfect shape for any car cupholder.
- CONS: With its size, it is a bit heavy to carry & it’s not spillproof. If it falls on its side, there’s a good chance the contents will spill. The other downside is the price. The 40-ounce tumbler will cost anywhere from $35-$45, depending on where you purchase the tumbler.
- Most Affordable – Simple Modern 40 oz Tumbler with Handle and Straw Lid: Not quite as popular as the Stanley tumbler, but that may quickly change with time as there’s a lot to love about this tumbler.
- PROS: This tumbler also comes in several color options, has a handle, a straw and a vacuum sealed lid that screws on and off. It will fit nicely in any car cupholder as well. The big difference with this tumbler is the price. It can be found for just under $30. It’s also nearly spillproof, making it one of the best tumblers! If tipped on its side, the contents won’t spill. However, it does still have a straw and tipping the tumbler completely upside-down will result in a spill.
- CONS: This tumbler is still a bit heavy to carry due to its size.
- YETI Rambler 42 oz Straw Mug: The YETI has long been a favorite of many and for a lot of good reasons.
- PROS: The YETI comes in wide range of sizes and colors. It too will fit well in any car cupholder. With its vacuum sealed lid, it will keep your drink cold all day.
- CONS: As with the other tumblers, due to the size it’s a bit heavy to carry. The lid is vacuum sealed, but it can at times be tough to get off and can result in spills. It’s also costly, coming in at $45.
- Hydro Flask All Around Travel Tumbler: Some swear by the Hydro Flask and it’s understandable with all of its nice features.
- PROS: As with the prior tumblers, the Hydro Flask comes with a handle, a straw and vacuum sealed lid. It too, can be found in several colors and fit nicely in any car cupholder. What’s really nice about this tumbler though is its flexible straw. It too is nearly spillproof!
- CONS: The Hydro Flask is also a bit heavy to carry. This tumbler doesn’t have a lid that screws on and off and with that, it can be a bit difficult to take off without spilling your drink. This tumbler doesn’t keep the drink cold as long as the Stanley or YETI. It also costs a bit more than the Simple Modern and possibly even the Stanley at just under $40.
- IRON °FLASK Co-Pilot 40 oz Insulated Tumbler w/Straw & Flip Cap Lids: Last, but certainly not least, is the IRON °FLASK. This tumbler has come a long way in quality and affordability.
- PROS: The IRON °FLASK tumbler also comes with a handle and straw. However, what’s really nice about this tumbler is that it comes with 2 lids. It has a leak-proof lid and also a flip top lid. It comes in multiple colors and is affordable, coming in at just under $30.
- CONS: One downside with the flip top lid is that it can be harder to get on and off, that could result in spills.
Tumblers Containing Lead
There are reports about some tumblers containing lead. Of the 5 tumblers in this blog, YETI & Hydro Flask are reported to not contain any lead. The Stanley, Simple Modern & IRON °FLASK have reported to contain lead in the sealing material but are safe for consumers.
According to www.cnn.com, Stanley has released the following statement, “Our manufacturing process currently employs the use of an industry standard pellet to seal the vacuum insulation at the base of our products; the sealing material includes some lead. Once sealed, this area is covered with a durable stainless-steel layer, making it inaccessible to consumers. Rest assured that no lead is present on the surface of any Stanley product that comes into contact with the consumer nor the contents of the product.”
Summary
In summary, we call these tumblers the fabulous 5 because they are all just that, fabulous. They are all dishwasher safe as well! It may just come down to personal preference, the price or possibly even a color you prefer. Regardless, you really can’t go wrong with any of these 5 tumblers.
