Find the Local Baseball Facebook Groups for Your Area

Tryouts regularly get posted in local Facebook groups. You can find the groups by searching terms such as, “X area travel baseball”. Teams will post when they are having tryouts or when tryouts have already been held, but they’re looking for additional players. You can also post in those groups to find out if there are teams looking for players your son’s age and/or looking for specific defense positions.

Contact Club Coaches for a Private Tryout

If you already know what baseball club interests you, contact the coaches directly. If open tryouts have already happened, many coaches will let you have a private tryout, especially if they are still looking for additional players.

Keep in Mind Teams May Only Need 1-2 Players

Often team rosters are nearly full when teams hold tryouts, so your player may need to tryout for several different teams. Not making a team isn’t necessarily a reflection of your players ability, but more of a sign the team needs a player with a specific specialty, i.e., a catcher or pitcher.

Summary

In summary, trying to find a team for your baseball boy can be stressful for both you as the parent and for your son. Knowing what to expect and setting those expectations with your baseball boy may help with some of the stress. As with anything else in life, stay positive and keep trying until you find the right team for your son.
